Phased Re-opening

28.05.2020 update

I hope that you are all safe and well. We have been busy making plans for Reception, Y1 and Y6 to return to school on June 1st. To prevent the spread of COVID-19, we have taken protective measures to create safer environments in which risk will be substantially reduced. Our priority at this point is to introduce resocialisation with new routines.

Attendance

We will not use fines for non-attendance in Reception, Year1 and Year 6 from June 1st.

Symptoms in your household

If anyone in your household shows any symptoms of Covid- 19, please do not send your child to school.

Staggered start times

In order to maintain social distancing, we hope to follow this timetable.

Reception start 8.40am and 3.00pm pick up.

Year 1 start 8.50am and  3.10pm pick up.

Year 6 start time 9.00am and 3.25pm pick up.

Parents will be asked to form a line 2m apart from each other as we welcome the children into school at the front gate. No parents will be allowed on school grounds. We will mark the street with cones so parents are clear about where to stand Mrs Gallagher will there to help navigate this new routine.

The children will come into school and immediately wash their hands following the one way system we have in place.

Small groupings

We shall be following the guidelines by keeping children in small groups with an adult and they will stay together for the day. Playtimes and lunchtimes will be staggered to maintain social distancing between the children. Please provide your child with their own water bottle with their name on it.

Dinners

For the first two weeks back, we have asked Mrs Binns to prepare packed lunches for Reception and Year 1. If your child would like a packed lunch these can be paid for as normal in year 6.  If you would like to bring your own, this is also acceptable. The children will eat lunch in their classroom and can go outside once they have finished. This will be staggered so the children do not mix with each other.

Key workers

We will continue to support those children with key worker parents. During lockdown we had a number of pupils in school ranging from 1-12 in total. If this number suddenly accelerates, we cannot operate safely within the guidelines. If you need a place and fall into this category, please e- mail Mrs Gallagher. New places may be difficult to accommodate for key worker children. We cannot hold any more than 15 in this classroom.

Cleaning

Mrs Laister has cleaned the entire school from top to bottom during half term. We have implemented a new cleaning schedule which means surfaces, door handles, handrails, table tops and equipment will be cleaned daily. Each adult will be equipped with gloves, anti- bacterial wipes, anti- bacterial spray. Toilet breaks will be controlled with cleaning measures in place. We will endeavour to keep school as clean as we possibly can.

Uniform

If you can, then please send your child in clean uniform daily. If this is difficult, then we will relax our uniform measures to support you.

I know this a difficult time for you all, please be assured that we want to help and support each and every one of you.

If you have specific question, rather than releasing threads on social media, please email directly where you will receive an immediate response. jgallagher@gandbprimary.co.uk
