Rainbow Acrostic Poem Competition


People in North Lincolnshire are being asked to create a rainbow acrostic poem to show their support to our key workers who are continuing to provide vital services across the area.


If you are unsure of what an acrostic poem is, please visit the BBC Bitesize Website.


All you need to do to enter is send your entry to, including your entry, full name, age and postcode by 5pm on Thursday 30th April 2020. Submissions can be in any form, the more creative the better!


There are 3 £30 gift voucher prizes for the best submissions in the following categories:

  • Best Adult Poem
  • Best Children’s Poem (aged 5-11)
  • Best Youth Poem (aged 12 – 18)

This is being organised by North Lincolnshire Council in partnership with North Lincolnshire Children’s Literacy Trust.

Free books for children from birth to five years

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is a 60 volume set of books. It begins with the children’s classic ‘The Tale of Peter Rabbit’ by Beatrix Potter. Each month a new, carefully selected book will be delivered to your home and addressed to your child. Best of all it is a free gift! There is no cost or obligation to your family.

KS1 - Read Write Inc

Support to keep your child reading at home during the school closure.

Oxford Owl at Home will help you to continue with their Read Write Inc phonics.  There are 30 ebooks, 62 speed sound practice sheets, 8 speedy green word slideshows, 28 ditty sheets and 2 parent information booklets.

For children who have finished the RWI scheme - there are other ebooks to select all free at the moment from this site.

Twinkl are offering a free months subscription to everyone. This website has a huge range of helpful powerpoints, teaching resources, activities and worksheets for your child/children to access.

Writing support

Since September, our school has adopted the Jane Considine Sentence Stacking methodology in the teaching of writing which is amazing for our children.


Exciting news - Jane Considine will be holding a sentence stacking lesson every day from 9:45 from her youtube stream.  All our children can benefit from this by tuning in everyday where they can whilst working from home.
