Children return to school on Thursday 2nd September. Our Value for this half term is Hope. "May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him" Romans 15:13

Autumn Term

Welcome back to our class page!

We are so excited to be back after the Summer. We hope that you are all feeling relaxed, refreshed and ready to learn!

We have such a busy term planned for you with so many exciting things taking place.

Our new Christian Value for this term is 'Hope'. All of the collective worships will teach the children about the importance of remaining hopeful.

In Maths Year 1 will be learning to recognise and write numbers to 20, followed by addition and subtraction within 10 and naming 2D and 3D shapes towards the end of the Autumn Term.

Year 2 will start by learning to recognise and write numbers to 100, followed by addition and subtraction within 100. Towards the end of the Autumn Term they will start to look at recognising and adding Money. Throughout the year we will also focus on 2, 3, 5 and 10 times table.

In English we are starting with a narrative based around The Tower Bridge Cat using the Jane Consodine approach to writing. The focus will be on writing accurately punctuated sentences and using previously taught suffixes and prefixes in our writing. We will also have a huge push on applying spelling rules in writing.

Our RE focus for the half term is Christianity. The questions that we will explore are:

What do Christians learn and understand about God through Old Testament Bible stories? E.g. Moses, Abraham, Jonah, etc, and what do stories in the New Testament tell Christians about Jesus?

Please remember to keep checking our gallery as we will be adding new pictures each week to show you some of the fantastic things that have been going on.

As always, please ensure that your child is reading AT LEAST 3 times per week at home and completing their homework each week.

If you have any problems, please contact us.

Thank you
Mrs Gregory
