Our Value for this half term is Equality. "Let equality, fairness and Justice roll on like a river that never runs dry" Amos 5:24

Autumn Term

Welcome back to our class page!

We are so excited to be back after half term. We hope that you are all feeling relaxed, refreshed and ready to learn!

We have another busy half term planned for you with so many exciting things taking place.

Our new Christian Value for this half term is 'Compassion'. All of the collective worships will teach the children about the importance of showing compassion to others.

In Maths Year 1 will be learning addition and subtraction within 10 and naming 2D and 3D shapes towards the end of the Autumn Term.

Year 2 will continue to use the column method when adding and subtracting 2 digit numbers. Towards the end of the Autumn Term they will start to look at recognising and adding Money. Throughout the year we will also focus on 2, 3, 5 and 10 times table.

In English we are covering a range of texts, starting with a Firework Poem.  We will then produce a diary entry based around the story, Toby and the Great Fire of London. During the week of Remembrance we will be writing a letter to a character from the story, Where the Poppies Now Grow. We will complete the half term with letter writing to the community and to Santa!

The focus will be on writing accurately punctuated sentences and using previously taught suffixes and prefixes in our writing. We will also have a huge push on applying spelling rules in writing.

In every English lesson we use MUST, SHOULD and COULD as our success criteria. This helps the children to ensure they are using all of the basic features of a sentence, as well as including the grammar expectations for their year group.

Our RE focus for the half term is Christianity.

Please remember to keep checking our gallery as we will be adding new pictures each week to show you some of the fantastic things that have been going on.

As always, please ensure that your child is reading AT LEAST 3 times per week at home and completing their homework each week.

If you have any problems, please contact us.

Thank you
Mrs Gregory
